It’s been a lively first month for our Lowell community. Thanks to everyone who came out for the packed Curriculum Night and “Dine Out”! (And many, many thanks to Coastal Kitchen for helping us have a successful first fund-raiser.)

PTA General Meeting on Wednesday, October 4, 6–7:30pm (free food and childcare!)
The Parents At Lowell School PTA is a great way to get involved with your school and meet fellow parents. Come to the General Meeting and you can hear all about upcoming events, fundraisers, the annual budget, and ways you can pitch in.
If you’re curious and want to learn more, join us in the Lowell cafeteria. You don’t have to be a member to attend. Free food and childcare available.
Say cheese! Picture Days, October 16 & 17
Watch for packets coming home with your child soon.
We are also recruiting volunteers to help for 2–3 hour shifts during the school day. All volunteers get a free picture packet! If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Nick Hodges at nickhabq@gmail.com.
3pm deadline for pickup changes
Tammy asked us to pass on the word: Please, please, please let the office know by 3pm if there are any changes to your child’s daily pickup. The most reliable way to communicate a change is to send a written note to school.
If you need to call, make sure that you speak to someone and don’t just leave a voicemail. The office gets very busy and voicemails might not get checked until later.
Recess and lunch volunteers needed
Have time during the day? Lowell needs lunch and recess supervisors, and they are looking for volunteers or hourly workers. Shifts are available between 11:05am and 1:15pm. For more information, contact the office at 206-252-3020.
Before-school “Sponge Spanish” starts Wednesday
Sponge School is offering before-school Spanish classes every Wednesday morning at Lowell starting this week.
Classes are 8:00-8:45am, 10/4 (Wed) to 12/13 (Wed), $175 plus a materials fee of $25. Scholarships available through Lowell PTA. Contact Sponge at info@spongeschool.com or (425) 274-5188 for more information.
